Frequently asked questions.

LAYLF keeps a 1:1 staff-to-camper ratio. This is in addition to our 2 full-time RNs and our executive staff team. Our staff-to-camper ratio is to ensure that both our campers and staff can be supported throughout camp!

what is the staff to camper ratio?

Do staff members stay overnight on campus?

All staff members are expected to stay for the entire duration of camp, including overnights.

We understand that camp can be an intense experience, and we prioritize staff wellbeing just as much as our campers’. Therefore, we have implemented daily, 1 hour break times for every staff member.

If, at camp, you feel like you need an extra break time, simply talk to an executive staff member and we’ll be happy to work with you!

what is the break policy for staff?

LAYLF aims to be an inclusive and diverse organization, and we want to encourage the development of a disability culture at camp. With that being said, we are able to accommodate minor support needs among staff, but for more significant support needs (such as assistance with dressing, bathing, etc.), we ask that the staff member make arrangements for their support needs (such as having their DSW accompany them.) For more information, please refer to our “Staff Requirements” page.

If you have further questions or concerns, or would simply like to talk through what camp might look like for you, please feel free to contact us through our contact form. We’d be happy to chat more with you!
